About Us

Mark Done has been active in the field of decorative arts for over three decades and is widely regarded in the profession for his craftsmanship and creativity. He has worked for a plethora of high-profile private clients such as the much-loved musician Sir Elton John and film director and producer Sir Ridley Scott. Alongside this, he has taken on special commissions from a wide range of renowned architects, interior designers, yacht builders and commercial designers – including Alidad, Nina Campbell and Tessa Kennedy. His artistic practice has taken him all over the world, from grand private residences in Paris to modern homes in New York and Beijing. He has also added his touch to iconic hotels, among them the Ritz and Claridge’s in London.

Mark’s broad range of skills includes intricate verre eglomise, exquisite murals, decorative wall coverings, gilding and a wide range of paint finishes from marbling to wood graining. He is accomplished at working with various surfaces and materials, be it glass, canvas, plaster, metal or silk. Over the years he has specialised in ornamental arabesques, with an eye for minute detail, but has painted in a very diverse range of styles to suit the individual taste of the client or the designer. Among the motifs most requested from him are floral arrangements – for which he takes inspiration from the blooms depicted by Old Masters Bosschaert and Brueghel – and beautiful maps.

Mark has a studio in the bucolic Cotswolds countryside, but is more than happy to work on site wherever necessary. Depending on the particulars of each job and its scale, he has a roster of reliable and talented artisans that he can call on to assist him with projects.
